CHARLES G. COWAN CD, QC, JD Armiger; Upper Canada College '44; Trinity College, University of Toronto '50; Osgoode Hall Law School '54; Rifleman to Major, The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada (Militia) 1947-1963; student-at- law to partner and Chairman of the Executive Committee, Holden, Murdoch & Finlay, 1952-1985; Secretary of Hollinger Consolidated Gold Mines, Limited 1961 and joined its successor, Hollinger Inc., as Vice-President and Secretary and Director 1985-2003; he also served as a director and officer of Argus Corporation Limited and several other companies; former Governor of Upper Canada College and President of the Association 1974-75; Honorary Aide-de-Camp to two former Lt.-Govs. of Ontario. Charles died at home in peace October 14, 2021. Survived by his brother Jim (Ann), his wife Susan (Tidy), his children Julia Soong (Graham), James (Barbara) and Stuart, plus his grandchildren - Hannah, Charlotte, William and Charlie. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada Trust Fund. Due to COVID restrictions, the funeral will be private.
