Charles OBERDORF Obituary

CHARLES DONNELL OBERDORF
February 25, 1941 September 16, 2011

Passed away quietly on Friday morning at Toronto's West Park Healthcare Centre after more than a decade's battle with COPD. He continues to be loved by his wife of 34 years, Mechtild (Hoppenrath), their daughter, Anya, his siblings and their spouses Bob (Judy), Mimi (Joe), Jon (Renée), his nephew, Oliver (Kim), and Mechtild's family in Germany. Heartfelt thanks for years of love and care go to the many wonderful friends he made and kept throughout his life and the staff at West Park. His legacy includes a lifetime's worth of writing and editing, and most of all the students he taught in the Magazine Publishing program at the Chang School at Ryerson. A celebration of Charles's life will take place on October 25 at Glebe Road United Church, 20 Glebe Road East, at 3 pm, followed by a reception at Grano from 4:306:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the respiratory program at West Park Healthcare Centre or the Canadian Lung Association.
