I am only just learning of Charles passing last summer. My heart goes out to you, Cathy, and all the family.
We three Hampson girls, Kathleen Conlan, Wendy Hampson and I, grew up at 42 Hereford in lockstep with the Scotts. They were our pals and schoolmates. Our parents, Lloyd and Jean Hampson were lifelong best friends of Charles and Pauline Scott. We could not have asked for better neighbours and friends, always eager to lend a hand in whatever backyard task was undertaken - burning leaves, digging a massive boulder out of the vegetable patch. Seasonal celebrations were sure to be fun when the Scotts arrived.
With my sincerest sympathy to you all as you carry Charles´ memory with you.

I was one of many childhood friends of Charles (all the guys in the neighbourhood called him "Charlie") when he lived on Hereford Place in Ottawa. I still remember visiting his house that was full of books and the air of reverence that accompanied what my parents called his "distinguished lawyer father". We had so much in common. He was a mere 37 days older than me, we went to the same High School, we both spent summers at lakes near Ottawa. And we both hung around with Jim Morrison who lived close to us on Barrie Avenue. And yet, in the naivety of youth, our lives went separate ways and we did not possess the wisdom to keep in touch. We both graduated from university in 1969, ended up as professionals in 1972 and were blessed with loving families. Incredibly, we probably worked in the same office tower in downtown Toronto. How I would have loved to have sat down with him and reminisced about the twists and turns our lives had taken from the last time we both said "See you around".

Our family lived across from the Scott family on Hereford Place in Ottawa for many years, prior to our move to the suburbs and the Scott family's move to Island Park Drive. We were the grateful beneficiaries of many summer weekend invitations to their cottage on Big Rideau Lake. Charles sent me a kind note on the passing of my father in 2015, and we briefly caught up by email. My deepest condolences to Cathy and the extended Scott family on behalf of the Hockins.

My deepest condolences to Cathy and Scott's family on the passing of her loving partner. I adored Scott, for so many reasons. He was stalwart, wise, funny, and kind. I will miss our conversations.

Scott and I send our condolences to the family as Charlie was our neighbour in Ottawa for many years. Our family home at 30 Barrie Avenue often had Charlie visiting to sample my mom´s baking.
So sad to hear this news. Our condolences to the family.

I first met Charles and Cathy in Fall, 1965 when they sat in the row behind Kerry Dean and me in a Religious Knowledge class at Victoria College and the four of us would often chat before and after the lecture. Foreshadowing Charles' later role as Arbitrator he used to referee the road hockey games between the North and South of St Clair teams in the early seventies - with never a call wrong.
Very sorry to not be able to be present at today's service but I'm certain you were enveloped with the greatest affection, admiration and respect from all attendees. I always held you and Charles in the highest regard. I wish you and family strength for the coming days without Charles. Charlie Owen

Cathy, I have such vivid memories of you and Charles at Nelles House, bright with youth and the promise of the future-- promise which you have so splendidly fulfilled. A wonderful man, something dancing in him. A rare spirit, sure to be missed by many.

Condoglianze dall'Italia. A friend of my youth - a gap of 55 years - and a joyous meet-up as old men. An Italian hug to the family. I love this photo. A happy memory in Umbria.

To the family of Charles Scott
I am shocked to read of the sudden death of Charles at the cottage. We were planning to get together to look over some Crain papers that Cathy and Charles found while closing the Scott home on Island Park Drive.
I send my deep sympathy to you all and a prayer for comfort and strength .
I am so sorry. I know how deeply you all cherish the cottage and I know how he will be missed
