Charlotte FULLERTON Obituary

FULLERTON , Charlotte Maude (nee Hickman)

Passed away peacefully after a brief illness at her home in Ottawa surrounded by her family on Friday April 19, 2013 in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Douglas Fullerton (1996). Loving mother of Mimi (Myer Brody), John and Kate (Jared Irwin). Pre-deceased by her older siblings, Charles, Alfred, Harold, Wally, Muriel and Frank. She was a strong woman who , despite a major 5 year illness (Tuberculosis) in her youth, fought back to achieve her heart's desire to have children. She later would also work to fulfill another dream - her Honours BA in English Literature from Carleton University. An elegant and caring lady with a wonderful sense of humour, she loved her gardens, flowers (especially Irises) and long walks at the Experimental Farm and at her beloved summer home in northern Cape Breton.
The family would like to thank the Ottawa Hospital (Civic) Geriatric Assessment Unit for their support; Doctors Thompson and Aldridge for their care and the palliative support teams from CCAC, Bayshore Home Health and CareFor who provided our mother with wonderful care, allowing her to spend her last days at home with her family.
At her request there will be no funeral service. A celebration of Maudie's life will be announced later in the Spring. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation ( Geriatric Assessment Unit), Meals on Wheels or a charity of your choice.
