CHARLOTTE MCCONNELL Obituary

(née Sarsfield, August 9, 1962 – March 5, 2026) With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Charlotte McConnell. Born August 9, 1962, Charlotte was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend, whose kindness and generosity touched many. She is survived by her husband, Eamonn McConnell (m. 1990); daughters, Emily McConnell (Justin Potts), Celia McConnell (Henry Grass), and Megan McConnell; and grandson, Charlie, born five days before her passing. She is also remembered by her sisters, Sarah Lowery, Lucy Marshall, and her twin, Laura James, all of the United Kingdom. Charlotte lived and worked in the United Kingdom, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Canada, building many lifelong friendships along the way. She volunteered at CAMH in Toronto and spent much of her free time helping others. Her generosity, warmth, and selflessness will be deeply missed. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, the ALS team at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and the palliative care staff at Mount Sinai Hospital for their compassionate care. A small family service has already taken place. A public celebration of Charlotte's life will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations may be made in Charlotte's memory to ALS Canada (donate.als.ca/p2p/site/7nSjM/page/2bS948#/).

I´m stunned. I met Charlotte when she was on the house tour in Port Hope . We struck up a conversation and realized we had a lot of common friends.
We were to get together to walk Canton and introduce our husbands. Gosh I wish she and I got to know one another. I felt she was very special. A lovely spirit.
I´m so sorry and extend my sincere condolences.

I worked with Charlotte for a spell at KPMG, formerly Peat Marwick Mitchell in the early 1980´s. We sat opposite each other. Both secretaries. I never forgot her, she was the most beautiful young lady, she lit up our office, I was in awe of her. She was starting her travels and was saving to head to Australia. I can remember she had Irish heritage, perhaps that is why we got on so well. I am Irish and moved to London in 1982. Charlotte was so well loved at KPMG. I offer her family my deepest condolences. Deer Charlotte rest in peace.

Charlotte McConnell was the kind of person who made every child feel welcome. When my sister and I were growing up, her home was a second home to us because of our friendship with her daughter, Megan. For years, we ran through her house after school, leaving trails of laughter, noise, and the occasional mess in her kitchen. We caused plenty of chaos, but Charlotte never seemed to mind. She always welcomed us back with open arms, creating a space that felt warm, safe, and full of joy.

When my dad died, Charlotte showed the depth of her kindness in a way I will never forget. She brought Megan over to our house, not shying away from our grief, but instead allowing us to be with our dear friend during one of the hardest times in our lives. It was a quiet act of compassion that meant more than words can fully express.

Charlotte always asked how we were doing, and she genuinely cared about the answer. Even when we rushed past her questions so we could run upstairs to play, she took the time to check in and make us feel seen. Her kindness, openness, and steady presence shaped so many of our childhood memories. I will always remember her as someone who made room for others, who cared deeply, and who helped create a childhood filled with friendship, laughter, and love.
