CHRISTINA MARGARET "MEG" BEST

(née Sutherland, January 22, 1956 - January 10, 2026) Peacefully, at Princess Margaret Hospital, surrounded by her children, after a brief battle with cancer. Mother of Kirby (Emma), Hilary (Andrew), and Rebecca (Jackson). Proud grandmother of Charlotte. Sister to Sheila Harris (David), Donald A. "Sandy" Sutherland (Lori), and John D. "Jock" Sutherland. Predeceased by her parents, Donald Marshall Sutherland and Gwendolyn Edna Sutherland (Evans). Meg graduated from Queen's University (1977) and went on to a career in book publishing, working for Oxford University Press. The many years she devoted to raising her three children were among her greatest achievements and deepest joys. As her children grew, Meg returned to work, first at the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild, and then happily driving a motley collection of cars for Brian Leuty. She leaves behind many family and friends who will miss her dearly. Meg loved wild places, spending many happy weeks at Lake O'Hara and Go Home Bay. In her memory, donations may be made to the Georgian Bay Land Trust. A celebration of life will be planned for summer 2026.
