Christopher HALL Obituary

CHRISTOPHER DOUGLAS CLIFFORD HALL March 6, 1960- March 8, 2022 Chris shook the tree of life and never let go. In the last afternoon of his life, waiting for the end, surrounded by extended family and his two black labs Denzel and Kobe, Hallsy was still cracking the jokes. The only indication of a dying man was a short grimace, for any movement caused horrible pain. He took every call and greeted every visitor as if it was a wonderful afternoon party. Hard if not impossible to find a gentler, more thoughtful, more generous man. Predeceased by his mother Margaret McPhillips, father Douglas Hall he leaves behind his beloved daughters Robin and Charlotte, devoted partner Joni Devos, cherished sister Robin and brother-in-law David Young, niece Sophie, nephews David, Andrew, Mike (Nina) and great-niece Nora Young. Chris adored his daughters and he had a special bond with each of them. They shared special rituals and not one to boast he was very proud of their accomplishments and their independence. His strong love for them will help fill the hole of his absence. While he was born in Toronto, his family moved to London, Ont when he was a child and that was his home base for most of his life until he met the love of his life Joni and followed her to Tillsonburg. After Ridley College, Chris raced sailboats in the Southern Ocean Circuit, then he became an investment dealer first in Toronto and then London. As with everyone he ever met, his clients were his friends. He left the financial world to follow his passions, first as a builder and finally as a regenerative farmer. He was an expert carpenter, dock builder, fisherman, golfer, skier and duck hunter. His idea of a perfect day was popping in on friends on Georgian Bay in his blue Donzi or clearing bush with the skid steer at the Marsh. For Chris movement was his life, so his final months were difficult as the colon cancer spread. Special thanks to Dr. Christopher Foerster, Dr. Daniel Breadner and to Suzanne from Care Partners for providing Chris with excellent care and for their compassion. Chris did not want a funeral, instead he asked for a celebration of his life in Georgian Bay this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the "London Regional Cancer Program" would be appreciated by the family and can be made by contacting the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc., 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg (519)842-4238. Heartfelt condolences to Chris´ daughters Robin and Charlotte. I never got to meet you except through your dad´s glowing stories at the Marsh, always overflowing with love. To you both, along with Robin, David and all the Young´s, shared deepest sadness. No way around it, Chris was a bear of a man and he did shake that tree of life without letting go! Chris had a personality larger than life, he was handsome as could be as a rugged outdoorsman - but the one word that comes first to mind is kindness. At heart, Chris was kind and gentle with a warm smile - his eyes always always gave it away. Bless you dear friend and thank you for the happiest memories, especially at the Marsh and Griffith Island.

Joni and Chris invited us to spend a weekend with them at Emily Lake last summer and we loved every minute of it. They were the most gracious hosts and Chris made sure we were able to experience the property by land and lake. We send our sincere condolences to Chris' family and friends. We know he will be missed.
