CLARENCE DOUGLAS COLWELL 1940 – 2010 Died at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 27 at the Health Sciences Centre in St John's, Newfoundland, after a year long struggle with cancer and kidney failure. He died peacefully in the arms of his beloved partner Shirley Wheatley. Loving father of Mark (Sharon) Colwell of Toronto and Heather (Joel) Zigelstein of Whitby. Devoted Grampy to Matthew and Alexandra Zigelstein and Jakob and Nathaniel Colwell. He will be missed by his brother Ron Colwell and sisters Barb Ganong, Beatrice (Neil) McKellar and Janet Williston, all of St John, NB, and predeceased by sister June Porteous. He also leaves many neices, nephews and friends. He was a wonderful, warm, funny, honest man and a man who understood the meaning of true friendship. He leaves a big footprint on our lives and in our hearts. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in St John, NB on Monday, May 3 and a reception at Holloways Funeral Home in Whitbourne, NL on Sunday, May 2 from 2-4 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Ontario at a future date to be determined.
