CLARENCE JAMES DENT "Clare" Superintendent RCMP Retired reg # 9363 15285 0.639 Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 10, 2022, in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. Born in Toronto, Ontario, he was a son of the late Clarence William Dent and Mary Evelyn Morrow. He was predeceased by his brother Donald "Bill" Dent, sisters Dianne Reid and Gaye Boyd. He will be sadly missed by son, Wayne (Carole); granddaughters, Catlin and Robin; daughter, Susan; granddaughters, Rachael, Megan and Katherine; daughter, Sharon; granddaughters, Raelyn and Courtney, Ottawa, Ontario; great-grandchildren, Noah Lewis Dent-Myers, (Megan) and Vera Nathalie Mason (Megan) and Leo Nelson Morewood, (Raelyn), Ottawa, Ontario. Clare had a choice when he was 18 years old. He had the opportunity to try out for a professional hockey career or a pilot from flying lessons with air cadets, career options held considerable interest, or he could join the RCMP and fulfill ambitions. In 1947, Clare headed to Depot in Regina to begin his career in the RCMP. After 35 years' service he retired from the Force having served much of Canada after postings in 7 Provinces, over 20 different communities including six postings to Canada's Arctic North of 60 where he was also a Coroner in and for the Northwest and Yukon Territories.
