Colin MCOUAT Obituary

Predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Helen (Wright), his daughter Brenda, his brother Jim and his parents, James Ralph and Mary Edith. 'Dad'will be greatly missed by Barbara (Neil), Ralph (Marie-France) and Beverly; 'Poppa' by Douglas (Jessica), Adrienne (Mo), Colin 'C.J.' and Angelina, and his great-grandchildren Cameron and Caelan. Colin touched the lives of many, with his immensely generous heart and love of family. Colin was a driving force behind the McOuat family and the Lachute community. From his early years as a boy growing up in Ormstown and then Lachute, Colin never stopped. Working alongside his father, Ralph, and his brother, Jim, they established one of Lachute's most iconic businesses, Farmers Supply Company, and continued to build the McOuat Group with his son Ralph. Colin was an entrepreneur in every sense of the word. In his 'spare' time, he loved and excelled at hunting and fishing with friends, whether it was at BLM Club, the Manitou or the Canadian Artic. He also loved to travel the world with dear Helen and family. Colin was devoted to his family, his friends and his community. He has left behind a legacy of kindness, compassion and a zest for life that is an inspiration to all. Among his lifelong achievements, Colin played a significant role with Helen in their community with the Lachute United Church, The Lachute Curling Club, The Lachute District Shrine Club, as well as The Shriners' Hospital. In 1980, he was elected Potentate for Karnak. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Todd McConnell, Dr. Jack Sutton and the St. Mary's Hospital team; as well as Colin's thoughtful caregivers.
