GLOVER, Constance W.
Born Holyoke, Mass., May 30, 1908; died peacefully Victoria, B.C., July 27, 1999. Graduated from Vassar College, New York; M.A. Mount Holyoke College, Mass. Predeceased by her husband Richard; survived by three children, Ted (Sophie), Patricia Bovey (John), and Bill; grandchildren Cindy and Steve Glover and Alexandra and Katherine Bovey; brother Ted White. She was a dedicated volunteer in art education and fundraising in the visual arts. A Founding Member of the Volunteer Committee of The Winnipeg Art Gallery in 1948, and founder of its Art to the Schools program and Study Groups. She pioneered Art in the Schools at the National Gallery of Canada where she was a docent, and supporter and organizer of the National Gallery Association in the 1960s and 1970s. Retiring to Victoria in 1979 she became a donor and volunteer in education at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church 1701 Elgin Road, Victoria, with the Rev. Canon David McKay officiating, assisted by Rev. Dr. John Allan.
