D. O'GALLAGHER Obituary

D.MICHAEL O'GALLAGHER To know him was a privilege to befriend him a delight Michael was a most passionate man. Passionate about his family, his friends and his business which he founded and steered, in a relatively short period, from a personal vision into Canada's third largest private apartment operation.Through all his successes this gifted individual maintained a humourous, self- deprecating style that kept him grounded and attracted a wide and diverse group of friendships. Fiercely proud of his Irish-Montreal roots, his crowning Quebec achievement involved the 1998 purchase of the landmark Olympic Village-a fitting flagship to his other 39 MetCap Living (Metro Capital Group) properties in British Columbia, Ottawa and Toronto. Michael was an extraordinary entrepreneur with a rare ability to see things first then make them happen. In his remarkable but short life he made an enduring impression on countless people who were proud to be his family, friend or employee. His grittiness was stuff of legend but nowhere was his courage more inspiring than during his long battle with cancer. Given Michael's incredible track record of achievement (sometimes against all odds), even the seriousness of his health seemed a setback he would ultimately overcome. Sadly, we are forced to mourn the passing of this marvelous 45-year-old father of five. He is survived by his loving wife, Alanne, his children Graham, Gregory, Breanne, Bryden and Rory, his father John, stepmother Nicole Paquette, mother-in-law Pat Perry, his brothers Danny (Kelly), James and stepbrothers Eric (Carolyn) and Marc (Carole), and his brother-in- law George and sister-in-law Annette (John). He was predeceased by his mother Betty Murphy. Friends may call at the TRULL 'NORTH TORONTO' FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTRE, 2704 Yonge Street (5 blocks south of Lawrence) on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at BLESSED SACRAMENT CHURCH (Yonge St. south of Lawrence) on Friday at 11:00 a.m. If desired, donations may be made to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto.
