DALE STEPHEN COOK obituary

DALE COOK Obituary

Dale Cook, a kind and gentle searching soul, has found his eternal resting place. Beloved son of the late John and Ellen; cherished brother to Kelly; and brother-in-law to Rick. He was loved by his family and devoted friends. Dale's life was a journey of searching - a path marked by struggles, resilience, and an unyielding desire to find peace within his mind. Though he had few possessions, his greatest treasures were the stories he carried, the experiences he lived, and his quest for understanding. We are deeply grateful to the staff at St. Michael's Hospital for their compassionate care and support of Dale. We also extend our gratitude and praise to the hardworking and devoted staff of the Scott Mission, Dixon Hall, St. Felix Centre, and the entire City of Toronto shelter system, whose support wove a safety net for Dale over the years. Thank you! Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace, reunited with his loved ones. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." (Matthew 5:8) May we honour Dale's memory by living with kindness, for "In a world where you can be anything, be kind." Please consider making a donation to CAMH to support mental health and addiction treatments at www.camh.ca/dalestephencook as we strive to better understand and improve mental health and addiction treatments. "We can do better," and let's try - in Dale's memory. A Mass will be held in Dale's memory on Saturday, March 22nd, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Clare's Catholic Church, 1118 St. Clair Ave. West. All who knew and cared for Dale are welcome to join us in celebrating his life and praying for his peaceful rest. May Dale's soul find the peace he longed for, and may his memory inspire us to be more compassionate, understanding, and kind.

Like many who have written here, I attended elementary school with Dale. But I got a chance to spend time with him when we reconnected many years later. My heart always broke for the struggles he went through and I was elated when he was doing well and looking healthy. But regardless of whether he was doing well, or poorly, he never let me down when I needed him. One evening, he called me and learned I had a bad stomach ache. It was late and he lived across town. Despite my protests, he insisted on driving to pick me up and take me to the hospital one night. Thank goodness for that...my appendix was close to rupturing by the time I got there. Dale will always have a special place in my heart because his was so big. He's finally at peace; something I know he longed for. He'll be missed.

Dear Kelly my condolences to you. We all grew up together on Mackay and have good memories of our childhood. Dale was always very respectful to the elderly on our street (my mom) . The last time I saw Dale was in 2006 when there was a big party on st.Clair when Italy won the world cup. Dale you are in my prayers and know you are with God now
