On Thursday, June 26, 2003, at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. He will be greatly missed by his family and by the many people whose lives he touched. The family is holding a private funeral, and will later announce the time and place of a public memorial service to be held, likely in early September. Donations may be made to any of any of his favourite charities: St. Michael's Hospital; the Canadian Civil Liberties Association; the University of Toronto's Daniel G. Hill Scholarship and Student Support Fund; or the university's sociology department for funds to endow a Daniel G. Hill professorship in sociology.
