Daniel Lockhart Johnston "Lock," age 93, passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, on Sept. 12, 2025, after a brief illness. Born February 19, 1932, Walkerville, Ontario, raised in Hamilton, Lock lived in Vancouver, Toronto, and recently Hillsdale. After a career in television and film, including at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and then freelance sound editing, Lock retired 1998. Lock was a longtime member of Bloor St. United Church and subsequently Northwest Barrie UC. He is survived by children, Mike, Vancouver, Wendy (Richard) Edmonton, Daniel (Ann) Barrie. Remembered fondly by grandchildren, Nathen, Luke, and Mikylla (BC), Emily, Heather, and Sarah (Barrie), Emma and Amy (BC); as well as great-grandchildren, Madyson, Haylee, Connor, Barret, and Maverick (BC). Lock was predeceased by Anne, his beloved wife of 57 years, in 2011. Memorial service November 9 at 3 p.m. at Northwest Barrie United Church.
