Daniel MURPHY Obituary

DANIEL JOHN MURPHY March 5, 1975 - October 31, 2022 With deep sadness we inform you Dan passed away on October 31, 2022, in Victoria, BC at the age of 47, after a prolonged illness. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Erica. Dan is survived by mom/stepdad, Pam and John Milnes; dad/stepmom, David Murphy and Nicole DiGiorgio (Nadia/Kevin - Boston/Bailey) (Jessica/Ben - Tyler/Averie); sister, Sarah Murphy/Chris (Madison, Damien, Kenzie); mother-in-law, Karen/Ivor (Karen Jr, Korina); Uncle Lorenzo; Brenda; Aunt Barbara (Louisa/Ivan) - Matthew/Monica), (Robert - Chantal and family, Mitchell); Uncle John; Aunt Evelyn (Cory, Peter); Aunt Joan; and Uncle Doug (Debbie, Jason). Dan was born in Duncan, BC, a full status member of the Cowichan Band, Coast Salish Tribe of Vancouver Island. Dan loved to travel and one of his fondest memories was his Kon Tiki tour of Europe. Halloween was his favorite day of the year, with lots of mischief making with his sister and friends. He was an excellent basketball player (Air Murphy). Dan loved the Canucks, never missing a televised game wearing one of his Canucks jerseys. He was an avid camper, fisherman and gamer, and loved going to the gun range. Dan took great pride in his job as a Protection Services Officer (PSO) for Island Health, protecting patients and other staff with his co-workers. He worked at Campbell River Hospital (CRH). Dan's love for his family and friends was second to none. Alicia (once you were Dan's friend, you were in his life forever), Greg, Mary, Jason, Jordon, Stuart, Susan, his RCMP friends Kevin and Colin, Mike (pharmacist), Amy, Shawn K. (my honour and pleasure to be his friend/brother), Devin (his legacy will live on in me), Monika (honoured to have him in my life for so many years), Andrea (so thoughtful and kind), Chris and Megan, Sonya, Jen, Janis, Kyle (Tara), Cheryll, Kaela (so grateful Dan was my friend), Jay, Mike Primrose, Ruth, Scotia, Ian, Rishi Sharma, friend Panama and his gaming group in the US. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and support staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) who helped Dan through his journey. Dan was so happy to see and hear from all his friends who visited him as well as the phone calls and texts he received. Condolences can be made to the family at pacificcoastcremation.com. A Celebration of Life will be held in Spring of 2023.

I worked with Dan at CRH as a Protection Services Officer. I dont know how it came up through my unrelated google searches, but it did, and this is horrible news. I had no idea Dan was suffering. He was a great work partner. He will be missed

I really can't believe we lost a wonderful man, he was caring, loving, and supportive when I needed a friend.

Dear Dan

I just wanted to write you about how much you meant to me. We have known each other since high school. So many hangs out, parties, and sometimes getting into trouble.
You became my family, I was so honored to have you in my life for so long.
I will hold the memories so close to my heart which is broken right now as it hurts much you are gone.
I will miss you always and always remember you.
Till we meet again my brother from another mother. I love you buddy.
