After a brief illness, on August 2, 2025, in the Montfort Hospital, Ottawa. Daphne was born in Montreal on January 12, 1943. After graduating from the Sacred Heart Convent, Daphne attended the University of Toronto, and subsequently McGill University, where she obtained an Arts degree and Masters of Library Science. She later was awarded a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa. Daphne was the Chief Librarian at Concordia University in Montreal before moving to Ottawa and a career in Canada's Civil Service. She retired as the Director General of Audit Branch of the Public Service Commission. Outside of work, Daphne was a passionate golfer and tennis player, playing both into her 80s. She loved learning and had a deep interest in, and a thoughtful perspective, on current and global affairs. In retirement, she travelled widely. Daphne is survived by her sisters, Sandra Dolan and Harriet Stairs, as well as their families. All will miss her terribly and would like to give special thanks to Patty Rupnarain, who contributed to Daphne's happiness in her last year. A celebration of Daphne's life will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor), Ottawa, on Saturday, September 20th, from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cornerstone Housing for Women in Ottawa.
