David ALLISON Obituary

DAVID ESCOTT ALLISON March 31, 1944 - August 28, 2021 Passed away suddenly Saturday, August 28, 2021. Son to the late Margaret and Philip Allison and brother to the late Jean Allison. David was a loving and loyal husband to the late Lynda Allison. Generous and kind father to Jacqueline Allison- Todt, father-in-law to Kyle Todt. David's greatest joy of late was being grandfather to Remington Todt, born September 24, 2018. David had a sharp wit, and a personality all his own. He enjoyed golfing, reading, travelling, and providing his opinion - solicited, or not. A successful businessman until his retirement in 2009, David enjoyed a quieter life with his nearest and dearest friends and family in Toronto, Pickering, and Florida. Friends are invited to pay their respects at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre on Thursday, September 2nd from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private celebration of his life will follow on Friday, September 3rd. In lieu of flowers, please support the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Dear David, you are missed. You were a wonderful friend. During troubled times you were always there to help. We were friends for over 60 years, and I wish that there were more.

Hello. I met Dave in Kandahar in 2009 / 2010. I haven't spoken to him since we parted ways over ten years ago, but man he did leave an impression on me. Perhaps he reminded me of my own Dad. And overseas in a place like that, wonderful Dads were in very short supply. There was a sense of comfort to just be in his presence, like I could just relax for a moment. He offered me valuable leadership and management tips and helped me find some bearings and context in that unconventional world over there. I appreciated his wit and sharp sense of humor. Real belly laughs with that guy. He always spoke so highly of his wife and his daughter and always with a slight smirkey smile on his face when he was talking about them. He so obviously adored them like crazy. He was warm and personal and kind but he also was formidable and had a special ability to mobilize people and resources and get things done. I don’t actually remember too many people from my time I spent overseas but I do remember Dave. And I do always think of him fondly. I am so very sorry for the loss of your Dad. Sincerely, Hayley Shearer
