DAVID BARKER Obituary

David James Barker passed away peacefully, at Mount Sinai Hospital on October 2, 2024. David is survived by his wife, Linda Barker; and his children, Azalea and Timothy (Daniela). David was a devoted husband and wonderful father. David was the eldest of six siblings, Paul (Brenda), Dale, Sean (Theoso), Michael (Susan) and Janet (Randy); as well as a great neighbor to everyone who lived on Armour Blvd. He enjoyed a long career at Hartford Canada Insurance. David gained joy from helping those he loved, from cutting hockey sticks for the neighbor kids to offering a place to stay to family and friends. David was passionate about gardening, birds, home repair, and spending time at his cottage on Sugar Lake. He was never too busy to help those that needed it and was happiest when the ones he loved succeeded. David's fourth battle with cancer was his last, and we will sorely miss him for the rest of our days. Special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and support staff who gave David extraordinary care. To honour David, we will be hosting a Celebration of Life at the Cricket Club, 141 Wilson Ave., on October 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Donations will gladly be received for the Canadian Cancer Society (cancer.ca) and the North York Harvest Food Bank (northyorkharvest.com).

I was at the celebration of life today and it was a beautiful one. I worked with Dave at Hartford Canada and he was always kind and very engaging. I´m glad I was there today as I learned much more about Dave and his "sassy" side . Tim , you did a great job as did Linda and Azalea.
AZALEA, what you did today was inspirational and am proud of you. Dave´s" love for you was obviously "unconditional" and that´s the way it should be. Take care and Dave will be remembered by all the Hartford alumni that were there today.
