David GIBSON Obituary

DAVID GORDON GIBSON On March 28, 2022, David Gordon Gibson died of cancer at home with his family by his side, just as he wished, loved and loving to the very last moment. We are grateful to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care for all their help. Dave is the son of Robert and Marion (nee Lumbers) Gibson. He was born in Toronto and lived in London and Montreal during his youth. He is the brother of Roberta Clark and Michael Gibson. He is survived by his loving wife Dooney Gibson (Hanson). They were married in 1969 and enjoyed 53 beautiful years together, living by their philosophy of 'every day, a random act of kindness'. Dave is the proud father of Geoffrey (married to Kira Mead) and Marcie (partnered with Erin Sandilands). He found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren as well as his extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Dave has had a big beautiful life, full of deep and meaningful relationships with friends, family, neighbors, work colleagues and fellow golfers. He always found the silver lining, even through his last days. Everything good was "the best". He was a bright, bright light. He is irreplaceable. In lieu of a formal service, the family will hold a visitation at Morley Bedford Funeral Services, at 159 Eglinton Ave West from Noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2022. We welcome everyone to drop in, pay your respects, and pay tribute to this wonderful man. www.morleybedford.ca

I met him from going into his office. He was a very open honest and gregarious man. I worked for him around 1983. He was impressed by my knowledge, tried to get me an institutional job on his own. A fine fella with a good moral compass. I recall a party at his house and how much he enjoyed tickling the ivories. A very kind and gentle demeanor
, rest in peace Dave.

Aunt Dooney, Geoffrey and Marcie,

Maggie and I are so sorry for your loss and condolences to you all.

We were very surprised to hear this news. We know how important and special Uncle Dave was to each of you and all of the family.

I still have memories of driving with him in his Healy and then the Gremlin, both British Racing green, if I can remember... (I think he probably stilled missed the Healy), the occasional ski run we would share at Osler and the piano playing at all of the family gatherings on Eastbourne. Although we did not connect much in the recent years, he will be greatly missed.

He is now with our other family members, Gramps, Granny, Uncle Dave H and Dad. May they all be looking down on us and smiling.

Memories and love,

Patrick, Maggie and Euan

It was a privilege to know David and his beautiful family, from our first meeting over four decades ago to recent weeks. We always enjoyed a laugh, giggle and smile. Kids, wine, friends or a new discovery always brought joy to our conversations. Late night cocktails, dinners or a quick jaunt in one of his cars are memories we will cherish. David lived as we always wanted. He had a zest for living and was always appreciative and reciprocated kindness many times over. He was a gentle soul, gentle man and no truer partner to Dooney who enthusiastically shared his zest for life. They were "two peas in a pod", the "yin and yang" and an inspiration- 53 years together!
We are grateful to have known Gibby, honoured to have him as a dear friend and thankful for the memories. He will be missed, but not in our hearts.
