DAVID JORDAN Obituary

David William Jordan died peacefully, at age 88, on January 15, 2026, at Providence Healthcare in Toronto. He was born on July 11, 1937, and spent his formative years in Tweed, Ontario. After earning a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen's University and an MBA from Western University, he launched a successful career as an executive in commercial real estate. David enjoyed a 61-year marriage to Sally Boyd, who survives him. They had two daughters, Sarah (Chris Reed) and Martha (Nick Furneaux) Jordan. David and Sally were delighted to become grandparents to twin boys, Macmillan and Finnegan Reed. David's work took him to Edmonton, Montreal, and Calgary. He and Sally eventually settled in Toronto, where they focused on raising Sarah and Martha. A devoted father, David's world revolved around his family. He loved serving as a sounding board for his daughters, even when they were grown women. He was an avid athlete who enjoyed downhill skiing and long-distance bicycling. After months of training and completing a full marathon, David declared, "I've had enough of running." Later in life, he took up golf. David thrived on lively debates with loved ones about world politics and local sports. Sparring was his way of showing affection. He reserved a tender place in his heart for the four-legged members of his family, notably Norman and Bernie. In retirement, David drew on his extensive business background to help newcomers to Canada and young entrepreneurs launch new businesses. The role of mentor came naturally to him. He was also innately resourceful and enjoyed fixing everything from barbecues to bicycles. David loved spending summers by the ocean and being part of the tight-knit community in St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, New Brunswick. Watching his grandsons grow up and play always put a smile on his face. He will be deeply missed.

My dad was fiercely loyal to us, his family. He was also always a sounding board and a voice of reason for me. He helped me find a practical path forward whenever I felt overwhelmed or lost. You could say he was practical in the way he showed his love. I will miss the tender conversations that we shared over the last few months while he was in the hospital.
Rest easy, Dad and know that Sally, Sarah, and I will be okay.

Dear Sally and family,
Kim and I send you our deepest condolences on this sad occasion. Please stay strong and cherish the good memories of David. He was a very kind and engaging man.

I really enjoyed David´s and Bruce´s - Alexander open discussions when we gathered for Men´s Lunch on a few occasions. Great insights and discussions with no hard feelings.

It was very nice to be part of our neighbourhood on Birch Street for over 22 years.

RIP David and you will be greatly missed by us all.
