DAVID B. LEIBSON B.C.L., LL.B. TESL Certificate September 1946 - September 2021 David died peacefully at his Toronto home with his loving wife, Phyllis Whyte, at his side. He will be missed by Phyllis, his brother Michael, and his extended family of friends and relations. He was predeceased by his parents, Mac and Ann Leibson (Blanshay). Born and raised in Montreal, David studied law at McGill University, where he was a valued member of the "McGill Redmen" (now "McGill Redbirds") basketball team. Whether on the rugby pitch, basketball court, doing Tai Chi, or canoeing rapids, David was physically active. It was in Toronto that David met Phyllis, sparking decades of laughter, travel, photography, reading, camping, song writing and his artfully prepared meals for friends and family. After years as legal counsel for the City of Toronto, David took early retirement, and - continuing his love of travel and exploration - received his TESL Certification (University of Toronto) and taught adults using encouragement, wit and empathy, giving back to those who, from the many cultures of the world, had enriched his own life. In his final years, David graciously resisted CNS Lymphoma. Through it all, he retained his warmth and sense of humour. For those who wish, donations may be made to The Princess Margaret Hospital's Pencer Centre, or to any charity of their choice, or through random acts of kindness. An online memorial will take place at a later date. Condolences and stories may be left at
