David MACDONALD Obituary

DAVID MACDONALD It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of David Wallace Christopher MacDonald in his 90th year, on October 16, 2018 in Kingston Ontario. A devoted Catholic and bluenose at heart, he left Nova Scotia as an aspiring journalist. Honing his craft at The Globe and Mail, Maclean's, The Toronto Daily Star and The Star Weekly, it thrilled him as a young man to ply his trade in Europe covering among other things, Vatican City. He then joined the staff of The Readers Digest in 1964, relocating from England to Montreal, and carved out a spot as one of the magazine's few roving editors - travelling the globe to research and write beautifully on topics ranging from sport to politics, to treasure, achievement and intrigue. He received numerous magazine writing awards and recognitions along the way. He leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years Antoinette, son Vincent (mother Joan Sanford), step children Bogart and Amadea Edwards, and 8 precious grand children, Heather, Sandra, Laura, Sam, Grace, Jordan, Isabella and Mcqueen and 1 great grandchild, Kaiya (Heather). David was predeceased by brothers Peter, Paul, Brian and Alan. The family wish to express their deepest gratitude to the incredible staff of Providence Care Hospital, Parkside 2 in Kingston Ontario. A private cremation will be held in Kingston. Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario are welcomed.
