DAVID PHILLIPS Obituary

DAVID ANDREW PHILLIPS Phillips, David Andrew, born in Toronto in the summer of 1978, died tragically while hiking in Switzerland on August 29, 2002. David died while on holiday doing something he loved. He is deeply mourned by his mother Leticia Reid, father Don Phillips, sister Sarah, stepfather Jay Reid, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, students and many cherished friends. A Celebration of David's life will be held on Sunday October 27th at 1pm, at The Estonian House, 958 Broadview Avenue, Toronto with the service beginning at 2pm. A reception will immediately follow. Dave's charm was magnetic, his friendliness irresistible, his laughter contagious and his energy boundless. Dave left a legacy of leadership and joy in living with everyone he knew through Lawrence Park Collegiate, Toronto Parks and Recreation, McGill University, Metro Prep School and the Toronto Scottish Rugby Team. Our special thanks go to the volunteer members of the Interlaken Swiss Alpine Club for their courage and help and the generous outpouring of support and generosity from a cadre of colleagues and friends. In memory of this dynamic and inspiring young man, the 'David Phillips Carpe Diem Award' has been established at Lawrence Park Collegiate. It will be presented annually to a student who most embodies Dave's spirited zest for life and leadership talent. In lieu of flowers, donations in support of this award may be sent to The Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute Foundation, 125 Chatsworth Drive, Toronto, Ontario M4R 1S1
