I am sorry to hear of David's passing. I have a great appreciation of opportunities David provided me through my time at OCA which helped lead to further opportunities at OCAD U. My work as a class assistant and then a Technician in the Photography department, which he lead at the time, helped with my career that eventually led to my return to OCAD U and my leadership role in IT Services. It was wonderful to be welcomed back and supported by people like David. Through David's recommendation we hired some excellent people in IT Services. As my OCAD U colleague Keith Rushton mentioned David was always friendly, approachable and eager to engage in ways to help students and the university. My sincere condolences to his family.

Today I learned of David's passing from an OCADU colleague Stuart Werle, and I am truly saddened by learning of his death. David was a kind, caring, student focused teacher. He was a wonderful collaborator and was very giving to those who were outside of his art, skills and expertise. Whenever I asked for his help, he went beyond the ask by being extremely supportive and very giving of his time and advice. Many of my students who were directed to him by me commented how cooperative and giving he was. I enjoyed his shows and the work of his students. he was a meticulous, skilled photographer. I always noted his smile and greetings... they were genuine, authentic, and he had a wonderful sense of humour. Though we saw each other occasionally, the meetings, conversations, and repartee always left me smiling, laughing. Many, many memories from committees, and the challenges we and many colleagues faced as OCA, OCAD, and OCADU over its transition into the institution it is today. I, like John Coull and Ted Rampen, am saddened to learn of his illness, hospitalization, palliative care and passing. David will be remembered fondly.

To the Scopick Family... I am sorry for your loss. A truly kindhearted, good-natured, exceptional human being.

I´m saddened to hear of the passing of my dear friend David. He and I spend a lot of time over the years having a lunch together, a beer after work, OCAD meetings and occasionally him coming to the county to visit. I will miss him.
