When I was a new and young entrepreneur in Yorkville a bad week nearly ended everything.
My man moved out and took the furniture, my partner announced that she had to leave for family reasons and the office landlord announced that he had sold the building and gave me 4 days to leave. I needed an office big enough for the seminars already booked. I heard that David had such a space that he was not using. I told him that I had no money but if he would rent the space to me I would pay him 2 months rent in 30 days. He said yes. When I arrived with a cheque for him a month later he said "Darling what is this for?". I realized that he had said yes to help me. I survived and grew a lifetime business because of his kindness and mentoring.

I am just now finding out this news about David. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing but thankful to have known he and Jack as a child. RIP David, now in the arms of the angels

I was going through old family photos today and came across a few of Jack when he was a small boy. I'm a 1st cousin 2x removed. My great grandmother was a Creley and his aunt. Anyway, this led to David Smith, which then led to this obituary. I was in Toronto during the summer of 2017, and now fully wish that I had done this exploring sooner. I would love to have met this man. But life is like that. The comments about David and Jack are wonderful. I'll keep them in my heart.

I met David when I fell in love with a dress he designed, and was fortunate in meeting Jack, too. Nearly 15 years ago David helped to locate furnishing for our condo in the same building as he and Jack resided. He was a loving mentor, always.

I have kept the guest book open for the next year because I believe it will take some time for the news to travel far and wide. Please take some time to share your memories. "Liz" Rowland

Vern and Shirley, David and Jack were so generous to me when I graduated university, without a clue as to what I would do next, They gave me work and helped me start the next phase of my life. David was so generous and upbeat; Jack was the voice of caution and reason; they were a wonderful pair. My sincere condolences to all who are feeling this loss.
