STEEL, David Antony Bedford After a lengthy illness, David Antony Bedford Steel passed away peacefully on the morning of March 3, 2010 in Kingston, Ontario. David was born to Eileen and Antony Bedford Steel in Cambridge, England on June 15, 1928. He immigrated to Montreal in 1954, where he attended McGill law school. David practised corporate law in Toronto for most of his career. In his later years David spent much of his time in Nassau, Bahamas and enjoyed tennis and bridge. He achieved the Bronze Life Master level in bridge and wrote extensively about the game. David married Tesni in 1956 and they had 6 children together. He is survived by 5 of his children, Antony Steel, Marion Steel, Anita Phillips, Laura Steel and Piers Steel, and by his 8 grandchildren. His second wife, Martica Clapp-Steel, and his son, Toby Steel, predeceased him. There will be a scattering of ashes on Tuesday, April 13th at 6 p.m. at the Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery, located at 1149 Dundas Street in Oakville, Ontario. A celebration of David's life will follow immediately afterwards.
