It was such a shock and so devastating to read the news of Denis' passing. I had the privilege of working with Denis for many years and considered him a valued colleague and dear friend. It is with a heavy heart that I write this note and send my condolences to Barb and the family. I know he will be deeply missed by the many people he touched during his life. I am so sorry I was unable to make the funeral but he and his family were in my thoughts the entire day.

It was with great sadness that I heard of Denis's passing. He was one of the nicest people that I've ever met.

I am sincerely sorry for OUR loss!
One of the best Oil & Gas and Petrochemical/ Chemical Risk guys in the country.
As a close friend of many years, I am reminded of all his fine qualities. This guy was the best! He was thoughtful and caring. He loved his family. He was supportive and loyal. He treated all with respect. Denny was always smiling, easy going, and very easy to be around. Everything he did, everywhere he went, the world is a better place for it. I already miss you Nob!

Barb, this is not how we like to send our condolences, however, we are in Australia until October. We were shocked and saddened to hear of Denis passing and can only imagine what you and your entire family must be going through. It is heartbreaking. Heartfelt sympathy to the Schaeffer family from all of Denis' friends and former colleagues at Aon. Denis dedicated many years of his career to Aon, and we were all shocked and saddened to hear this news. Denis remained a regular invite to our Risk Control lunches in the years following Aon, and I always enjoyed his sense of humour, honesty and contagious laugh. He will certainly be missed.

Denis was was well loved and lived well, which I think is probably the measure of our time. I knew him as a classmate, as a friend & as a neighbour for many years and our young families enjoyed many great adventures together - most involving great food and drink. The best. He was the ultimate host and family man.
I am saddened by his early departure. There are so many things I would have still liked to have shared with him. But I waited too long.

My life is better for having known Denis - we played backgammon back in high school, went through engineering and kept in touch through the years. He was always positive and giving. My condolences to the family and friends.

My deepest condolences to the Schaeffer family. I worked along side Denis for 4 years at XL Insurance and then again at Liberty Mutual for the past 3 years. Denis told the most interesting industry stories given his extensive experience and knowledge in risk engineering. I could always get a good chuckle listening to Denis' anecdotal humor at work. Rest in peace my friend.

Denis was always a gentleman, funny, loved to eat and was always a pleasure to work with. A number of months a go we shared a ride to and from a survey and we talked excitedly about planning for our retirements. I'm greatly saddened that Denis won't be enjoying his hard earned time off. He loved his family and was proud of them. He was a good man. I'll miss him. My condolences to his family and friends.
