BOWMAN, Dr. Dennis James Our dearly beloved Dennis died tragically, but doing what he loved to do, on July 8, 2017 from a paddleboard accident at Sauble Beach, Ontario. Dennis was the son of Keith and Barbara Bowman (Etobicoke), grandson of Florence and Ab Bowman(d), and Isobelle Hope(d), brother to Stephanie Bowman (Toronto; David Farwell), Michael Bowman (Whitby; Stephanie Douglas-Bowman) and Daniel Bowman (Mississauga; Susan), and a best friend, loving partner, and companion of Alison Brown (Brooklin). Dennis was born in London, Ontario amidst a vast extended family, and raised in Rothesay, New Brunswick, until 1991 when his family returned to London. Dennis had a special two-way loving relationship with each of his nieces and nephews: Maddi and Luke Farwell; Andy, Robbie and Shannon Bowman; Tess, Jamie and Molly Bowman. Dennis will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins, friends and co-workers. Dennis graduated from Queen's Medical School and practised Anesthesiology at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital and Northwest Health Centre in High Level, Alberta. He had great respect for the profession and all his co-workers. Dennis was an accomplished professional, a unique individualist and a dedicated achiever. He loved his music, was committed to good health and any outdoor adventure. Dennis was an inspiration to his family, focused on his path and followed it; he believed in all that was right, true, honourable and just. Dennis loved God' creation and spent as much time as possible in it. He loved his work and was pursuing fundraising opportunities to maintain beds for care in the Orillia hospital. The family is grateful for the incredible help and support from visitors at Sauble Beach, first responders both on and off duty, especially the extended Brown family, as well as the staff at GBHS Southampton Hospital, and the OPP officers. They also wish to thank their many friends and family who have supported them with calls, visits and food over the past few days. Dennis believed in simplicity and 'no waste', and cared about people. Visitation will be held at Lawrence Park Community Church on Thursday, July 13th from 2 -4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday July 14th at 1 p.m., at Lawrence Park Community Church, (2180 Bayview Avenue, Toronto). As an expression of sympathy donations to the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, or the Northwest Health Centre in High Level, Alberta in support of direct patient care would be appreciated.
