Denys Kensington FORD

Denys FORD Obituary

DENYS KENSINGTON FORD August 8, 1923 - October 26, 2022 Dr. Ford (MD Cambridge) immigrated to Canada in 1953 to join the staff of the Vancouver General Hospital and Department Medicine at UBC. In 1993, he was awarded Master Membership in the American College of Rheumatology. But to those in his local community of the medical school, he was known as the White Tornado, challenging students and colleagues alike. He was an avid tennis player, and rock wall builder, as is in evidence on the shores of Snug Cove on Bowen Island. One of his proud legacies is Halkett Bay Marine Provincial Park on Gambier Island which, without his vision and determination, would not be available for the citizens of the Lower Mainland to enjoy in perpetuity. He was also very proud of his support for his wife, Marguerite Ford, and all her accomplishments, who survives him. A Celebration of Life will be held December 12, 2022, 2-3:30 p.m., at the Vancouver Rowing Club, 450 Stanley Park Drive.

As a childhood neighbour and friend of his kids, my condolences to the entire family. I remember one visit to Snug Cove when Dr. Ford was placing some of those mentioned rocks, starting as soon as the tide started ebbing.
