ABBOTT, Dr. Derrick MB. CH.B
Peacefully in Toronto on Monday, December 21, 2009 at the age of 79. Husband of Jean. Loving father of Simon and his wife Anne, Jonathan and his wife Anne, and the late Jeremy. Dear father-in-law of Mary Jane. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Christopher, Madeleine and Stephen. Brother of Monica, Shirley and Maureen. Derrick was born on September 15, 1930 in Cudworth Yorks., England. He graduated in 1954 from the University of Sheffield Medical School. He later served in the R.A.M.C in Niagara from 1955-1958. Derrick practiced Haematology at the City General Hospital in Sheffield from 1959-1966, and Mount Sinai Hospital as Head of Haematology from 1966-1995. He was an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Medical School, a medical officer to the Royal Regiment of Canada, Militia. Member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute from 1967, and Member of the Port Credit Yacht Club since 1968. A private service for family and close friends will be held at the Turner & Porter 'Peel' Chapel, 905 279-7663.
