DESMOND BERGHOFER Obituary
1938 - 2025 Dr. Desmond Berghofer died peacefully at home, on October 17th, 11 days before his 87th birthday, surrounded by his loving family. Desmond lived a life of service to humanity on a family, personal, national and international level. He was a "rock" to his family in Canada and Australia, and a loving partner in life and in work to his beloved wife, Dr. Gerri Schwartz. He was a writer of world class literature, most especially his book, 'The Visioneers' A Courage Story About Belief in the Future, whose theme about human goodness and nobility formed the basis of their charitable foundation. His lifetime and service included his government work of Assistant Deputy Minister in Advanced Education in Alberta, and by extension, his work in UNESCO. He worked with Gerri in BC, nationally and internationally, in teaching leadership on the creative management of change and in the co-founding of non-profit organizations of service to humanity. Desmond was a leader whose courage for right causes was bold and his solutions were innovative and creative. His life was indeed a blessing.
