Don MCGIBBON Obituary

DR. DON PETER MCGIBBON 1934 - 2018 '...we are for each other, then laugh, leaning back in my arms for life's not a paragraph (line break here) And death I think is no parenthesis' - e.e. cummings Suddenly and unexpectedly at home in Oshawa, on Friday, May 25, 2018, at the age of 84. Son of Henrietta Murray and adoptive parents, Judge John A. McGibbon and Mildred Ellis. Beloved husband of Dr. Dianne Boyd McGibbon. Dearly loved father of Meredith, Michelle (Kletke), Sandra (McAdams), Katharine and Kevin, Dear father-in-law of Scott Kletke and Jason McAdams; treasured grandfather of Elijah and Tristan Kletke, Owen and Ryan McAdams, and Cassidy McGibbon Culver. Cherished member of the Cognashene Community of Georgian Bay. Don and Dianne met as students at the Faculty of Medicine at University of Toronto, graduating in 1963. His chosen specialty was Youth Psychiatry, which remained a focus throughout his career. Don found great serenity working in his garden, composing his music, conversing with friends and family, the cinema, and sharing breakfast with loved ones. Visitation will be held at the Thornton Cemetery, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, ON. 905-579-6787 on Friday, June 1st from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will take place at the same location on the same day at 1 p.m. Don believed steadfastly in trying to make the world a better place and donated to many causes. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the charity of your choice.
