DON OWEN Filmmaker, painter, poet, chef,
adventurer, passed away
peacefully at Kensington
Gardens Nursing Home on
February 21, 2016. He will be
missed by his sons, Andrew and
Martin and their mother,
Suzanne Gobeil; his brother,
Garry and many friends and
colleagues. Don's career began
at the National Film Board during
the pioneering period in the 60s
where he wrote and directed
many classic documentary and
dramatic films, including the
award-winning Nobody Waved
Good-bye. Don was a strong
romantic spirit with a vibrant
imagination who leaves a
remarkable cultural legacy. A
celebration of Don's life will be
