DONALD FERGUSON Obituary

Don passed away peacefully at home August 16, 2024. He is survived by his wife Susan; his children, Kevin, David (Boel), Tara (Kate); his five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Born in Montreal, Don moved to Toronto at a young age, and returned to Montreal in 1943, where he spent his high school years. Don loved Montreal, enjoying summers at the family cottage in the Laurentians and winters at their Sainte-Marguerite Station ski hut. Don attended Mt. Alison University and Huron College at Western University, then began his career in broadcast sales in Montreal. He relocated to Toronto, joining a large U.S. advertising agency. Don later returned to T.V. sales and marketing for Glen-Warren-CFTO, as V.P. and Director of Baton Broadcasting. Don was an avid sailor and skier and most enjoyed his time skiing with his family and friends at his beloved Caledon Ski Club, their many ski trips, and sailing/racing at R.C.Y.C. He was also a passionate and accomplished artist, selling many of his works. Don wanted everyone to know how proud he was of his whole family; particularly, his wonderful wife, who was lovingly by his side, throughout their 66 years together.

I am saddened to read this news. I worked with Don while I was at Baton in the late 1970s - he was downtown and I was in Agincourt. Though we never spent much time together, I always felt a kinship with him, never knowing that he was born in Montreal, an alumni of Mount Allison or an avid sailor - of which I am all. I wish I knew all this many years ago. Blessings.

Sue and Family, Sincerest Condolences.
Don´s passing causes me to remember "Glory Days" of early days of racing at our beloved Caledon. Great memories of Don and the "pioneers" of Timing Races. Those early enthusiasts included Larry, Ernie,Bruce, Gary, Ian. Don was an enthusiast, supporting all the kids and their activities. Always a big smile and Sue, always at his side,-offering, inseparable support. Those were wonderful Family Days and his Family, led by Don, were always in the middle of the FUN! Very Best Wishes to Sue, Tara,David and Kevin.

I was saddened to hear of Mr. Ferguson´s passing. His enthusiastic and friendly presence at Caledon Ski Club throughout my life seemed like a given. My thoughts are with his family at this time.

I echo Leslee´s sentiments below. Always a gentleman and active, engaging member at Caledon and it was nice to chat with him while working out in the RCYC city clubhouse. My condolences to you all.

My thoughts are with the Ferguson family. I have so many great Caledon memories of "Mr Ferguson" On the slopes, chatting and laughing with friends in the lodge - and always had an encouraging word on race days. It´s been a long time since seeing Kevin, David and Tara - but wishing you and your mom all well during this difficult time. With love, Leslee ( Johnston) Thompson
