Donald LOWE Obituary
LOWE, Donald Cameron
1932-2014
Donald died peacefully on June 26, 2014, in palliative care at Toronto General Hospital after a tough year of health problems. Our three children fortunately had the opportunity to spend time with their father before his death. For those of you who knew Don, the fact that he would not be able to spend time in his beloved Muskoka, taking his grandsons for rides in his convertible jag, top down of course, playing friendly competitive rounds of golf with his buddies, taking the grandkids water skiing and sitting on the deck, gin and tonic in hand with steak sizzling on the BBQ contemplating what fine bottle of red he was going to serve from his wine cellar for and evening with friends, was for him unacceptable. He was blessed with a long healthy life, a successful career, a loving family consisting of daughter, Michelle (Gordon) of London UK, son, Jeff (Grace) of Hong Kong and son, Steven (Kate) also of London UK. He took pleasure in his grandchildren, Bronwyn, Cameron, Matthew, Phoebe and Marcus.
According to his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no formal funeral service. However for those of you who wish to drop by, there will be a visitation at Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road from 3 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. There is ample parking. We will have the party he wanted at the cottage on Saturday, August 23, 2014, when all our family will be there. I can't think of a more fitting place to remember him. Please no flowers, but if you wish, donate to the charity of your choice.
My gratitude goes to my terrific group of friends, whose constant and loving support helped me make it through the last year. Special thanks to Jan. As always, my children who made the effort to be here to visit their dad and support me.
Ladies and gentlemen of the 9th Floor of Toronto General Hospital, over the last 14 months you have become my hospital family and I thank you for the constant care and consideration offered to both of us. A special thanks to Dr. Ian McGilvray whose support for both of Don and I during this time has been unfailing.
