Donald SINCLAIR Obituary

DONALD ALLAN SINCLAIR P. Eng. May 1, 1929 - November 15, 2021 Peacefully at the Credit Valley Hospital. Donald passed away at the ripe old age of 92. He lived a good life of quiet dignity. Son of the late Gordon and Gladys Sinclair of Islington. Donald is survived by his beloved wife Louise of almost 68 years. Loving father of James (Ellen), Susan Polla (the late Frank), and Allan (Jane). Cherished grandfather of Emily, Domenic (Maggie), Ian (Tichina), Kate, Caroline (Aaron) and John. Donald was a man of many talents: avid golfer, fisherman, die hard Leafs fan, birdwatcher, photographer, winemaker, enthusiastic investor, lover of mimosas, cribbage player and euchre fanatic, designer and builder of the family cottage and builder and skipper of the Acton Up. He was above all loyal to his friends and true to his family. He leaves us with many fond memories of happy times at the cottage and on vacation. When asked on one family trip what his favourite part had been, he replied that it was being together and seeing everyone having a good time. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Credit Valley Hospital or to a charity of your choice. A private service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Glen Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery with interment to follow.

To Don's family,

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss.

I worked for Don as Plant Personnel Supervisor at Continental Can / MacMillan Bloedel on Commissioners Street in 1979-80. As a young guy starting my career, he was a wonderful mentor. I learned much from him and was able to share some of the things I learned with others over the course of my career. It was an interesting period in history with the train derailment in Mississauga, the sale of Continental to MacMillan, the closure of the plant, etc. Amongst many fond memories, including his notes of thanks for a project well done, support on a challenging file, a lunch to discuss business, etc., was a personal one - he introduced me to my first martini. Often, when I have had one over the years, I have thought of him. When I have my next martini I will be sure to raise my glass in memory of a wonderful man.
