Born in Montreal, Quebec, Doug passed away in Toronto where he spent most of his life. He was 69. Doug was predeceased by his loving parents, Stan and Fay Elder, and is survived by his siblings Sue (Mike), Carol (Chris), and Ken (Nancy), and nieces Jennifer, Allison, Maddie, Margot, and Kate and nephews Jamie and Jeffery of whom he was very fond. Doug spent most of his working life at the LCBO where he was very active in the union and made many friends. He loved to read and take photographs; both hobbies enhanced the trips he took all over the world. His travels were documented in over 90 photograph albums and later by digital slides enjoyed by family and friends. Doug spent the last few years of his life coping with Alzheimer's at the Salvation Army's Meighen Manor. The family would like to thank both the staff at the Manor for the wonderful care they gave Doug and also his incomparable caregiver, Richard, for his consistent, compassionate presence. The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) from 10:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8th. Condolences may be sent to
