DOUGLAS ANGUS Obituary

(Professor Emeritus – Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Douglas E. Angus, who died peacefully, on January 10, 2026, at Bruyere Health Centre-St. Vincent Hospital, at the age of 81 years. Parents, Alexander Gracie Angus and Ora Evelyn Graves, predeceased Douglas. Survived by his sister, Linda Ann Angus; brother, Jack Russell Bowerman; godson, Jonathan M. Gulas; children, Mary Catherine Angus and Douglas Alexander Clark Angus; grandchildren, and nieces. Remembered for a generous heart, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to family, Doug leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. Douglas was a Professor Emeritus, Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa, where he devoted decades of his life to teaching, research, and academic leadership. He was deeply respected by colleagues and admired by generations of students for his intellectual rigor, thoughtful mentorship, and unwavering commitment to education. Throughout his career, Douglas made lasting contributions to the field of management through his scholarship, curriculum development, and service to the university community. His influence extended well beyond the classroom, as he took pride in guiding students toward meaningful and ethical professional lives. Douglas was known for his integrity, curiosity, and generosity of spirit. He believed strongly in the power of education to improve society and remained engaged with academic and community life well into retirement. Family, friends, colleagues, former students, and all those whose lives he touched are invited to attend a public visitation at Whelan Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 515 Cooper Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1Y 3P7. A Holy Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Parish, 100 Young Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1Y 3P7, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Douglas may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Ottawa, Ontario. Douglas will be fondly remembered for his dedication to learning, his quiet wisdom, and the many lives he enriched through his work and kindness. We've known Doug for over 45 years -- first as a neighbour then as a friend. We last had coffee together in Ottawa in June of last year. We will always remember him as a wonderful person.
