A great husband, father, grandpa and friend to many. Doug was this and more. Survived by his loving wife, Paula; son, Brent; daughters, Tiffany, Alexandra and Nicole; grandchildren, Wesley, Keith, Teanna and William; and two great-grandchildren. He was a proud Canadian, who played hockey with the Marlies and went on to coach young men's hockey in Newmarket. He built his first home in Newmarket after his parents passed. His father and mother immigrated from Scotland, and Doug loved and cherished his Scottish heritage. Doug worked for Canadian Tire for many years. He then branched out on his own and started his very successful international company in software, Stirling Douglas. After he sold his company, he felt that he had more to do and began his second successful company, Stirling Cook Developments. Never one to focus just on work, Doug continued to raise a family, travel and have a drink with friends. Doug passed away after a very quick relapse of AML Leukemia at Margaret Bahen Hospice on October 31, 2025. We are grateful for the wonderful, warm care he received at Sunnybrook and at the Southlake Cancer Centre. Friends may call on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until time of Service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel, followed by a reception at Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Dr., Newmarket (905-898-2100). Donations in lieu of flowers to Margaret Bahen Hospice are greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be made at
