Douglas DREW Obituary
DOUGLAS MAJOR DREW November 22, 1932 - February 7, 2023 At the ripe age of 90, Doug passed away quietly during his afternoon nap. Dougie will be missed by his daughter, Victoria Keks; son-in-law, Laird Keks, who was his best friend and companion; son, Matthew (Nicole); and daughter, Sarah Higgins (John). Sadly, Doug was predeceased by his son, Phil. Doug was loved dearly by his grandchildren, Christopher, Brandon, Alex, Katey, Haley, Bella, Maddox; and great-grandchildren, Ben, Ellie, Jack and Theo. Doug was born in Port Burwell to Herbert and Vera Drew, but spent most of his childhood in London, Ontario. A celebrated athlete, Doug played many sports but excelled at football and was known as "animal" on the offensive line of the Western Mustangs where he won two Vanier Cups. His years at Western were full of antics as a Delta Upsilon and a student of business. In 1956, he married his beautiful wife, Jocelyn, and together they lived in Calgary, Montreal, New Jersey, Winnipeg and finally settled in Toronto. At 79, Doug moved to British Columba where he enjoyed the latter years of his life playing bridge, walking, making new friends and spending time enjoying his west coast family. He leaves behind a legacy of toughness ("suck it up" was a favourite line), softness in his own way, and an adventurous spirit. He was a legendary character who lived life the way he wanted and left an imprint on anyone who met him. In lieu of flowers, please take a long walk and think of Dougie.
