DOUGLAS RIMER Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Arthur Rimer, at the age of 64, on January 6, 2026, after a brief illness. Doug was predeceased by his sister, Valerie (2011); and his father, Arthur (2013). He is survived by his mother, Joan; his daughter, Maria; and his siblings, Lynn (Mark), Ronald (Andrea), and Kenton (Janet); as well as his many nieces and nephews who knew Doug as a gentle, kind and caring uncle. Doug grew up in Beaconsfield, Quebec, where, as a young boy and into his teenage years, he stood out as an accomplished athlete in basketball, soccer, track and field, and baseball, earning countless MVP awards along the way. Doug's athleticism was truly remarkable, but far more notable was his loyalty to teammates and sense of fair play. Doug studied Fine Arts at Concordia University where he honed his talents to become a highly regarded artist, and well into his later life he would generously provide gifts of his work to family and friends. Family and family events were of the utmost importance to Doug. Whether it was the annual family golf tournament, fun and competitive horseshoes at the cottage, or a game of pool at the neighbourhood pool hall, Doug cherished these above all else, always putting family ahead of his own interests, no matter what challenges he may have faced personally. Doug leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness to everyone who touched his life. A celebration of Doug's life will follow at a later date.
