Duncan NAYSMITH Obituary



NAYSMITH, Duncan
Peacefully at the age of 82, on Friday October 17th after a short illness, at the St. Josephs Health Centre in Toronto. Duncan will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife Edith, daughter Margaret and husband Phil, sons James and wife Patricia, Alan and partner Renita, treasured and much loved Grandfather of Katie, Laura, Sarah, and Bryan, and survived by his brother John and wife Toi, of Thunder Bay Ontario. Upon graduating from the University of Toronto in 1946, Duncan began his 38-year tenure in forestry, where his colleagues and friends honoured him several times with achievement awards. Duncan was first awarded the Bothwell Award for forestry followed over his career by the Ontario Forest Industries Association's Certificate of Appreciation, the Canadian Forestry Achievement Award from the Canadian Institute of Forestry, the Ontario Forestry Award from the Ontario Forestry Association. Most recently the Ontario Professional Foresters Association honoured Duncan for 'Exemplary and Significant Contribution to Forestry in Ontario throughout an outstanding career'. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday October 22nd between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. for visitation followed with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. the same day. The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre, 1535 South Gateway Road Mississauga, Ontario. 905-602-1580 (North East corner of South Gateway and Dixie Rd., 2 lights south of Eglinton Ave.) In lieu of flowers, donations to the Asthma Society of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
