VALO, Edith
On Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Cummer Lodge. Auschwitz survivor and beloved wife of the late Thomas. Loving mother and mother- in-law of Felicia and the late Sidney Valo. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Ella and Abraham Rutman, and the late Lily Greenwald. Devoted grandmother of Ilana Valo and Josh Silvertown, Michael and Rebecca Valo, and Shana and Michael Peiser. Devoted great-grandmother of Jack, Cydney, and Judah. Loving aunt of Rosette and Stephen Abrams, and great-aunt of Tamara. Also survived by her son and his wife, Garry and Helene Shomair, and their children, Benji and Rebecca, Ari and Erin, and Nicole and Michael, and their grandchildren, Izzy and Milo. A special thank you to her exceptional caregivers: Sonam, Marian, Nelly, Yvette and Glenda. We are also grateful for the tremendous care she received from Dr. K. Shulman, Dr. T. Cohen, and the staff at Cummer Lodge. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at 12:30 p.m., at the Or Shalom Cemetery, Oxford Street W., and Proudfoot Lane, London, Ontario. Shiva 240 Heath Street West, Toronto with visits Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and concluding Friday at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Garry Shomair will be sitting shiva in memory of his beloved mother, at 200 Old Forest Hill Road, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1st and Thursday, June 2nd before leaving to continue shiva on Friday, June 3rd at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, 4329 El Camino Real in Palo Alto, California until the morning of Monday, June 6th. Please call Dr. Shomair to confirm the Thursday visitation due to uncertain travel plans.
