QUINN, Rev. Edmund (Ed) James C.Ss.R
Suddenly, at Saint Patrick's Redemptorist Rectory, 141 McCaul Street, Toronto, on Tuesday October 19, 2004, in his 85th year. Father Ed was born in Smith's Falls, ON, son of the late John Quinn and Anna Byrne. Predeceased by his brothers Leo and Frank, Father Quinn is survived by his brother, James (Almonte, ON), his sisters-in-law, Catherine Quinn, Mildred Quinn and Doris Quinn, several nieces and nephews, loving friends in all his parishes, as well as his Redemptorist confreres.
He made his Profession of Vows as a Redemptorist in Saint Peter's Parish, Saint John, NB on August 15, 1942 and was ordained to the Priesthood in Woodstock, ON on June 29, 1947 by Bishop John C. Cody, Bishop of London. Father Ed has dedicated all his Redemptorist life to the parish apostolate in western Canada. He has served in Athabasca and Calgary, Alberta, Moose Jaw, Yorkton and Saskatoon, SK, Williams Lake and Vancouver, BC. In June 2004, he moved to St. Patrick's in Toronto.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of the Apostles Renewal Centre, 1617 Blythe Road, Mississauga, ON on Friday, October 22, 2004 at 10:30 am., where his Redemptorist confreres from across Canada are engaged in their annual retreat. Burial will follow in the Redemptorist plot at Mount Hope Cemetery, Toronto. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home and Chapel. (416) 924-1408.
