EDNA HAY Obituary
(nee McDiarmid) Passed away peacefully, at North York General Hospital, Toronto, on February 13, 2026, just hours before her 93rd birthday. Beloved wife of Peter Hay (nearly 69 years of marriage). Loving mother of Jenny and Donny. Dear mother-in-law of Milan Popadich and Kelly Lyons. Proud grandmother of Andrew (Helen Kim), Kristina, Hazel, Amanda, and Jessica; and great-grandmother of Jane. Born in Carleton Place, Ontario, to John and Lillian McDiarmid, Edna earned a BA in Mathematics from Queen's University. She was a dedicated high school mathematics teacher, including many years at Georges Vanier Secondary School. Edna enjoyed tennis, bridge, travel, and time with family and friends. A private family celebration of life will be held. Donations to a Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated.

I only met Edna once, at Kelly and Don´s wedding. The ceremony was held outside on a rock in the wilds of North Western Ontario. At some point she had to leave her chair; her shoe got caught in a root on the ground. I heard her say: "This is the first wedding I´ve attended where one might trip simply attempting to walk"!
She was warm and funny and kind and smart. Her family is blessed to have had her.
