I'm so sorry, I didn't know. I loved my uncle Ed. He helped my pick my first guitar when I was 12 years old. (I still have it) He always welcomed me into his home . As well as my aunt Maddy and the kids .I will always remember the welcome loving atmosphere they created for me.

Ed was always my favorite uncle. I was privileged to spend time with him in person and hear him play on stage. He will always be in my heart.

Ed, a man of humility and also humour, was a giant of the jazz guitar, with a well-deserved international reputation. Musical royalty for sure. He will be sorely missed by all of his friends and fans, including me.

Condolences to the Bickert family. Ed was my first cousin however I am afraid I never knew him as he left Vernon shortly after I was born. He was obviously well thought of and loved and I know he will be missed.

A brilliant light on the world's music scene. First heard Ed at the House of Hamburg in TO, oh so many years ago (1958) when I was 16, and was entranced. On moving to Vernon last year, imagine my surprise and delight to find out this was Ed's turf. Ed will be welcomed by the heavenly choirs!

Deepest condolences to the Bickert family. I remember him from my days growing up on my old street as I lived a few houses down from him and across the road. Sometimes, I'd hear his music from his home whether doing rehearsal or regular performing. He and his family were neighbors to close friends of mine. I'd also used to see him out front of his house tending his lawn. He was so friendly and humble, and down to earth. Thank you for being a wonderful part of the Midland Park Community.
May eternal light shine upon you and yours; God bless and God keep.

My sympathy to the Bickert Family. Ed was the greatest guitarist in the city. I never missed a performance of his when he played with The Boss Brass at The Toronto Jazz Festivals. Great memories of his performances at The Colonial, Montreal Bistro, Bourbon St. Blues. The Senator. His music will live on forever.
