EDWARD HILL Obituary

(May 31, 1936 – January 2, 2026) It is with a heavy heart that we share that Ed passed away peacefully, at Sunnybrook Medical Centre after a brief illness. He went to his reward surrounded by loved ones, in his 90th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Marcia; his brother, Allan; and his parents, Lloyd Allan and Jean Hill. Loving uncle to Jennifer Cove, Susan Hill, Janet Masson, Anne McArthur, Ainslie Boccitto, Lee Ann Lawson and Jo Ann Bourque. Born and raised in Richmond Hill, Ed attended Victoria College, and then Osgoode Hall Law School at the University of Toronto. Called to the bar in 1963, he spent the majority of his legal career at INCO, retiring in 2000 as Associate General Counsel. He was a long-time member of The Faculty Club, and maintained many lifelong friendships from his law school days at U of T. Ed and Marcia enjoyed travelling and had a passion for the arts. They enjoyed many years as part of the Niagara-on-the-Lake community and formed lasting friendships. Beyond his delightful personal storytelling, Ed was an accomplished writer, playwright, and published author. He was active for many years with the Arts and Letters Club, where some of his work was performed on stage. In his later years, he focused his creativity on his wonderful short stories, the last of which he completed in December 2025. Ed was a dear friend to many. He was always welcoming and nothing pleased him more than getting together with family and friends over a good meal and great conversation. With a twinkle in his eye, Ed could engage you in a funny story, or with his endless supply of jokes for every occasion, with his dry, clever sense of humour. Ed loved his family. He always made us smile and we loved him very much. We will hold our cherished memories and miss him dearly. Friends may visit Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Ave. W., on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
