Edward PIERCE Obituary

EDWARD FRANCIS PIERCE Edward, of Toronto and Walters Falls, January 21, 1929 - October 14, 2023. "Fast" Eddie's sail lost its wind after a long and special journey. He sailed well past his goal of 92 and lost the race just shy of 95, still preaching his famous motto, "keep plugging along." Working for 40 years at Photo Engravers & Electrotypers, he was a dedicated, committed and well-respected employee. Our Dad was an enthusiastic and active participant in so many activities. He loved the water and spent many of his best years on Lake Ontario and his beloved Georgian Bay. Swimming, diving, sailing, skiing and 'chores' were many of his life's passion with his family and friends. He was an active guy, always happy to share a beer (or two) with good friends, of which he had many. Ed left behind a large family of admirers and life lessons. Predeceased by the loves of his life, Dianne Pierce (nee Thornton), and Anna (mother of his three children), his brothers Fred and Alec. He will be missed by his daughter, Leslie (Tom); and his sons, Rob and Eric; his grandchildren, Kate (Brett), Martha (Conrad), Patrick (Natalie), Matthew (April), Lindsay (Matthew), Axl; and his great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Harris, Hazel and Mary. Ed's devotion to fitness and active living was an inspiration to his family and friends. A true patriarch, we will miss him so much. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 22nd, from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. at 132 Glen Road. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com

So many great memories of Uncle Eddie. I remember watching the three brothers playing hockey at Talbot Park in Leaside on Sunday mornings And who can forget the brothers´ photos where Ed & Alec were missing a some front teeth? Always fun, quick witted.
Rest in peace Uncle Eddie.

Leslie, Rob and Erik. We are truly heartbroken to hear of our Uncle Ed's passing. Steve and I shared with our family many happy times at the farm with Ed and Dianne visiting and swimming in the pool. Your Dad often took Steve to "chores" while we visited, but I don't actually think any chores were done. Personally, I will miss our telephone conversations talking about who in the family was doing what and past and current events. I loved hearing about some of the people he had met that had served in the army and the stories they had shared with him. I pray that he is at rest now and is with his brothers who were taken too soon.
