Ed died peacefully at home on February 25, 1998 in his 74th year, after a lengthy battle with cancer. When he died, he was surrounded by love, caring and the Mozart he treasured. Ed will be greatly missed by all who loved him for his wit, compassion, wisdom and humanity. He is survived by his wife Betty of Fergus, Ontario; his daughter Leslie (John King) of Grenfell, N.S.W., Australia; his Daughter Glynnis of Toronto, Ontario; and his son Ian (Judy Barr) of Kingston, Ontario. He is also survived by his two sisters, Marguerite Whitcombe and Betty Olsen, as well as numerous brothers-and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and the two grandchildren he loved and from whom he received so much comfort, Sean and Caitlin King. A memorial celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, March 7th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home and Chapel, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus, Ontario.
